Sheriff Don Hunter,
3301 East Tamiami Trail, Bldg. J
Naples, FL 34112

Dear Sheriff Hunter:

At a meeting of the Pelican Bay Property Owners Association on January 11, 2001, the following concerns were expressed regarding traffic control within the Pelican Bay community:

  1. Speeding
  2. Excess traffic due to construction on US 41 diverting into Pelican Bay
  3. Muggings at the Waterside Shops parking lot
The following suggestions were made to be forwarded to your office:
  1. Set up a patrol car with a "dummy" inside
  2. Pelican Bay Property Owners rent a sign that shows the speed of drivers
  3. Put extra patrol cars at Gulf Park Drive and Pelican Bay Blvd. between 7:30 - 9:00 a.m., and between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
  4. Obtain a copy of the itinerary and/or log sheets of the extra patrol car for which we spend $320,000 a year
  5. Light at:
    • Gulf Park Dr. and Pelican Bay Blvd.
    • Gulf Park Dr. and US 41
    • North Pointe Dr. and Vanderbilt Beach Dr
No left turn allowed at Gulf Park Dr. and US 41 unless there is a light

We would appreciate your comments regarding the above and would like to invite you to a meeting of the Pelican Bay community on March 8, 2001, 4:00 p.m. - the annual meeting of the Pelican Bay Property Owners Association.

Your response would be appreciated as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Raymond J. O'Connor, President
