January 18, 2001
Sheriff Don Hunter,
3301 East Tamiami Trail, Bldg. J
Naples, FL 34112
Dear Sheriff Hunter:
At a meeting of the Pelican Bay Property Owners Association on January 11, 2001, the following concerns were expressed regarding traffic control within the Pelican Bay community:
- Speeding
- Excess traffic due to construction on US 41 diverting into Pelican Bay
- Muggings at the Waterside Shops parking lot
The following suggestions were made to be forwarded to your office:
- Set up a patrol car with a "dummy" inside
- Pelican Bay Property Owners rent a sign that shows the speed of drivers
- Put extra patrol cars at Gulf Park Drive and Pelican Bay Blvd. between
7:30 - 9:00 a.m., and between 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
- Obtain a copy of the itinerary and/or log sheets of the extra patrol car for which we spend $320,000 a year
- Light at:
- Gulf Park Dr. and Pelican Bay Blvd.
- Gulf Park Dr. and US 41
- North Pointe Dr. and Vanderbilt Beach Dr
No left turn allowed at Gulf Park Dr. and US 41 unless there is a light
We would appreciate your comments regarding the above and would like to invite you to a meeting of the Pelican Bay community on March 8, 2001, 4:00 p.m. - the annual meeting of the Pelican Bay Property Owners Association.
Your response would be appreciated as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Raymond J. O'Connor, President
