Dear Commissioner Carter:
The Board of Directors of the Pelican Bay Property Owners Association voted unanimously at their October 18, 2001 meeting to endorse and support the "Half-Penny for Roads" referendum.
We are sending a First Class mailing to our 3400 + household (approximately 6,000 members) requesting they vote on November 6th and support the proposed sales tax increase of one half cent. Approximately 50% of our members are registered to vote in Florida.
Norman Feder, Transportation Administrator for Collier County and Chairman Jim Carter provided outstanding information to our Board, allowing us to reach our decision.
Please accept our thanks for your courage in suggesting an unpopular position (an increase in taxes of any kind), and we encourage you to continue your efforts on behalf of Collier County.
